Felted Knitting with Fiona Morris - 15th May 2010 [2665]
Saturday 15th May 2010. 10.30 am to 4.30 pm at Kangaroo in East Sussex (just outside of Lewes). The price of the workshop includes materials, tea, coffee and lunch plus 10% discount on purchases made during the day.
Felting knitting has become increasingly popular over the last few years and now there are a number of yarns being developed specifically to felt in the washing machine at 40 degrees.
Felted knitting makes great bags, soft furnishing and other unusual accessories. The felted items can also be embellished with needle felting, beads and embroidery.
Fiona will show some examples of felted knitting including shibori felted knitting using a variety of yarns currently available and will demonstrate hand felting knitted pieces. During the day student will have the opportunity to start making a felted knitting item and to try needle felting to add embellishment to a knitted fabric.
You will need:
- A selection of knitting needles in different sizes, generally sizes larger than you would normally use for the yarn you are knitting with.
- Note book and pen if you want to make notes
